IUI Round 3 or The Day I Tried Not to Die

Today started like any other day. I went to work. Ate a donut with sprinkles. Gave my first morning rounds. Got into a fight with a nurse. (okay that might have been more because I'm crazy hormonal, but it might also have been because she's snotty, and stupid.)

I had a 9am appt for my 3rd IUI . I got there a few minutes early and put on my IPod loaded with my special "relaxing" playlist. This is old hat for me by now.

Or so I thought.

When she placed the catheter in I started having cramping, per usual. Except this time, the cramping was the worst I think I have ever had. Then I started to get all sweaty and clammy and proceeded to throw up several times in the garbage can next to me. Sprinkles do not taste that good on the way up in case you were wondering. I was beyond mortified. I must have looked pretty bad because the nurse wouldn't leave me. Usually they say "think happy thoughts" and let me rest with my pelvis tilted up for 15 minutes. When I finally felt good enough to walk without passing out, I got up to use the bathroom. Where I then got sick again. But from the other end. It was not pretty.

The best part? I still had to go back to work. Feeling like absolute death, I returned to work. Thankfully, I work with some totally awesome people who were VERY helpful for the rest of the day. I don't think I would have made it otherwise.

And tomorrow? I have to do it again. Everyone pray that it works.....and I survive!

Bathroom: Before and After

Last week, I finally decided on a paint color and painted my bathroom. I thought it would only take me a few hours.
Little did I know it would take me All. Day.
But I'm pretty happy with the results. The new color even goes with the shower curtain I currently have, at least until I decide on a different one.

Here's what the bathroom looked like before:

And here's what it looked like after a dreadfully long day of painting:

So tell me, what do you think of the results?

Fancy Free and Loving It?

I'm trying to be more positive about my current childless situation. I've been focusing on all the good things about not being pregnant/having a baby.
Here's just a few of the things I've come up with:
  • I can drink as many caffeinated or alcoholic beverages as I want.
  • I can eat any kind of fish or seafood that I want and not worry (too) much about mercury poisoning.
  • I still fit into my "skinny" jeans. Which leads me to.....
  • I can still lose those pesky extra pounds I seem to be carrying with me without depriving anyone other than myself from food.
  • I can run a marathon. I'm doubtful that will happen as I detest running, but at least the option is there.
  • I don't have to watch animated movies unless I actually want to see them.
  • I can sleep 12 hours in a row if I want to. (Now I'm just bragging)
  • I can ride all sorts of amusement park rides. Roller Coasters, Bumper Cars, etc.
  • I can spend a whole day reading a book if I want to. (Again with the bragging!)
  • Two words: HOT BATHS!
  • I can just pick up and go anywhere I want at any time with little-to-no fuss. No carrying around diaper bags, strollers, any of that stuff.
  • I can take any kind of pain reliever I want for my migraines! (This is an awesome one as my headaches are awful)

Hey, this isn't sounding too bad is it? Since I'm getting ready for my 3rd and final round of insemination (3rd time's a charm, right?) next week I'm trying to stay positive and focus on what I DO have.

Are there any other things that you can think of that I'm leaving off the list?

Designer's Challenge: Bathroom Color

Again thanks to all who suggested colors for my bathroom project. I picked out some choices. I'm really leaning towards the green on top. It's called Ardmore Green and will go with the shower curtain I currently have until I find a different one.
What do you all think?
Which green do you like the best? I think I'm going to pick some up on my next day off and get started.

On a totally unrelated note, what do you think of my new tablecloth? It's from Kohl's.

Here's a close up of the pattern.
Isn't it cute?

Monday Eye Candy

Well, I'm in need of some Eye Candy today aren't you?

Good, this week's pic is John Krasinski from the Office (a show that I LOVE LOVE LOVE, watch it if you don't already). His character's sweetness and sense of humor alone make me sigh, but when you add his looks.......

The look on his face when his character discovered in the season finale that he was going to be a dad was priceless. And makes him this week's Eye Candy.

So, What do you think of John?

Have you seen the Office? Do you love it?

****Side note about last week's Eye Candy. I saw Star Trek this weekend and it was AWESOME!*****

I Got a Polo Shirt, What Did You Get?

This past week was National Hospitals Week. The Chamber got us all these as gifts. This is so much better than a raise. Or enough staff to do our jobs properly.

Thanks.

Designer's Challenge: Dining Room

Thank you to all those who helped me with last week's challenge. I really liked your ideas. I'm leaning toward something calming like the misty or seafoam green. I just have to find the right shower curtain! I'll post pics when I've actually made some changes.

On to this week's Designer's challenge:

In my dining room hangs a Chandelier. I hate it. It's a brassy color and clashes with everything that I have in there. I want something understated. And pretty. And modern.

Help me find a light fixture I can live with. (that's not too expensive).

If you find one online post a link to it in the comments. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Monday Eye Candy

I just finished working 7 shifts in 8 days. Needless to say I'm exhausted, have a headache, and in a generally grumpy mood. I could use some cheering up, so I'm taking my cue from Jen and starting a new feature, Monday Eye Candy. Everyone needs some cheering up on Monday's right?

And what cheers you up more than looking at pretty boys? Yes, I'm married, but I am neither blind nor dead so here's this week's pick:
Chris Pine. His new movie Star Trek, came out this weekend. I have yet to see it, but come on, he's hot and the trailer looks awesome. I can completely ignore the fact that he was in the Princess Diaries sequel and a Lindsay Lohan movie because his role in Smokin' Aces? Completely unrecognizable.

Also? His father is Robert Pine. You know, from CHIPS? The blond guy that wasn't Eric Estrada. So acting is probably in his blood.

So tell me ladies...what's your opinion on Chris?
Have you seen the new Star Trek?

Funny Friday Video

This video completely captures what I have occasionally felt the past few years. It cracked me up!

Happy Friday!

***If you are currently pregnant, this is not meant to offend you. I just find it funny. Unless you are like this then, suck it.***

The Crazy Comes out When I'm Bored

I'm off work today. I slept in and did a little housework.
Unfortunately, now I'm bored.
Since I'm still having issues making a baby of my own, I wandered over to the RoutanBabymaker 3000 website and decided to make one.

All you have to do is take a picture of Dad...... *Swoon*
Add to that a picture of Mom......

And you get one creepy looking baby.

Create Your OwnMake a Routan Baby

Kinda makes you want to create your own now doesn't it?

You know you want to.

Don't know why, but this made me giggle.

Designer's Challenge: Bathroom

For some unknown reason, I feel the need to completely redecorate my home. I think it's because almost all the colors were picked out by the previous owners. In the two year's I've lived here, I've made a few changes. I painted my living room, and bedroom.

What I really want to tackle next is the bathroom that adjoins my bedroom. The paint is old and marked up, and it needs painting badly. I figure that since I have to paint it anyway, I might as well change the whole think up. I'm tired of the colors.
Here's what it currently looks like (it's much bigger than this, obviously, but you get the idea of the current colors.)
Here's where the challenge comes in for you: What color scheme would you pick? I'll take suggestions as to colors, a particular shower curtain, etc.

I'm looking for ideas, people. Help!

Craft Time

I was going to post a rant this weekend on the Swine flu and how although it's a different strain, it is still just THE FLU, but I had my niece and nephew and we were kind of busy.

Instead I'll post pictures of my new bedspread. I finally finished it this weekend, and I love it.

What do you all think?

I wanted something bold and in these colors. When I looked in the stores, I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I decided to make it. It was pretty simple. Just cut out the squares, sew them together. Add batting, and sew on a back. Instead of quilting it, (which would have taken time I didn't have) I put decorative buttons in the corner of each square.

I found these cute crystal buttons that really set off the colors.
