Cat Fights

This is the face of evil, apparently.Tim is 12 years old. My other cat Peter just turned 4 on Tuesday. For the four years we've had both kitties they have gotten along. They play together, lay together and clean each other. They get along great. Or got along great. A week ago they decided that they hate each other with the fire of a thousand suns. Mostly it's Tim attacking Peter. Usually when he's eating. And then Peter spends the day hiding under our bed or in the closet growling and hissing whenever Tim walks near.

I called the vet even though neither kitty seems sick. She suggested buying this spray called Feliway that releases pheromones that calm kitties. It's not working. She also suggested separating them. Have you ever tried to separate two kitties? We lock one of them at a time up in a bathroom while the other has free reign in the house. The isolated kitty then loses his mind. Banging on the door, moaning and crying incessantly.

Under supervision, the kitties are allowed to be together. They warily sniff each other and lay near each other. Then something sets them off and it's yowling, fighting, chasing, and Peter under the bed again.

I'm at my wits end.

What should I do? Has anyone had an experience like this before?
Do they EVER get over it?

Lazy vs Crazy

I am lazy.
Sometimes I wish I had superpowers or a helper monkey just so I don't have to get things for myself. I firmly believe in the laws of motion that say that a body in motion will stay in motion and a body at rest will stay at rest (you know, unless acted on by a force which in my case is usually Spiderman being all "get it yourself, lazy") The lazy? it usually works for me. But....
I am also crazy.
Hello? Is this your first time here? I can be a loony, neurotic mess! So what am I currently obsessing about? Every year like many women, I become lax with shaving once the cold weather comes. I don't shave my legs every day. I tell myself "hey an extra layer of warmth is a good thing!" ( I also say this about extra helpings of cake) It's mostly because I allow myself to be lazy.
But every so often the crazy takes over. What if I'm in an accident? What if they have to cut off my clothes??? And see my hairy legs??? What if I DIE in my sleep? And have to be buried with stubble????

Am I the only one who worries about this?

Which one do you lean towards...the crazy....or the lazy?

I Just Have to Make it ONE More Day

All I have to do is make it through an 8 hour shift tomorrow and then....I AM ON VACATION!!!

Can you tell I'm excited? I'm not actually going anywhere so it's more like a Stay-cation, but I don't have to work or do anything I don't want to do.
I have a few things lined up like day trips to both Chicago and Shipshewana, but I'm mostly going to spend the time sleeping, reading, and hanging out at the pool.

I also have a gift card donated to me by my mother for a spa near to my house. What I can't decide is this: should I get a massage or a facial?

Let's debate this. First we have the one hour relaxation massage. I love massages. I last had one in February for my birthday. It was nice, but left me with bruises. Next, we have the hour long rejuvenating facial. This includes cleansing, skin analysis (whatever the heck that means), steam, treatment masks, balancing and face, neck, arm and hand massage.
Both of these are about the same price. Both are hour long. I do have to say I'm leaning more towards the facial. I haven't had a facial in 6 years.

Which would you pick, the massage or the facial?

My Addiction Has Gotten Out of Control.....Again.

So today I went to the grocery store. What's so interesting about that you ask? Nothing.
When I opened my trunk though, is when I realized that I really have a problem.

It's full of books.

In fact, not only is my trunk full of bags of books, but so are all my shelves and most of the floor in the mess-i-call-an-office. Many were given to me by other people, and most were bought. There are a few of these books that I haven't read yet, but the vast majority have been. So why do I keep them? I mean, space is a valuable commodity in my house.

Why can't I get rid of them?

Don't get me wrong, there are several books that I do intend to keep as I reread them over and over. The Twilight , Shopaholic and Outlander series' for example. I love them. They are like old friends. But the rest? I'm ambivalent about.
It's almost as if I keep them around like a badge I proudly wear.

One that says LOOK! I. CAN. READ!

So here's my dilemma: What should I do with all of them?
I would like to start sorting through them and getting rid of any previously read/unwanted books. Here are the options I have come up with.
  1. Donate them to the public library. Has anyone done this?
  2. Hand them out to any delivery man, pizza guy, or solicitor that comes to my door. Like a parting gift of sorts.
  3. Throw them all away.....which kind of breaks my heart a bit.
  4. Raffle them off on this here blog. One a week until they're all gone! (well maybe not all, but most)

What do YOU think I should do?

Homework Help

I have a dilemma. I have to write a short story for my fiction class. It's due in a week. It has to be 5 pages long.
On whatever I want.
I have NO idea what to write it about.
Well, that's not entirely true. I have a few ideas, but they all seem pretty lame. Here are some of my choices.
1. Tell the story about the night Spiderman and I met. (but longer and in more detail than the one I posted here)
2. Tell about one of the MANY horrible blind dates I went on before meeting Spiderman.
3. Tell one of my work stories about my strange patients.
4. A completely made up story inspired/suggested by one of you.

I could take one of my real stories and polish them up some, embellish if I have to to make it interesting. OR I could make something completely up. I just don't know.
Also, here's the kicker.

We have to read these aloud to the class.

I think that is what is giving me writer's block. The pressure to be interesting to a group of 25 people that I have never met before. I don't really know my audience. What if my story completely sucks. What if the person who goes before me is a completely fabulous, eloquent, profound writer and here I go talking about my lame blind date.

I'm sure whatever I write will be okay, but I can't help worrying a little bit. This is why I'm taking the class, after all. I want to be a better writer. I want to learn ways to do this. I want to get over my fears and hang ups. It's just scary.

So does anyone have any suggestions?
What should I do?

Decisions...

I have to register soon for school and I'm having a rough time.
I have several problems:

1. I can't decide if I want to take ONE class or TWO classes. If I take two classes, I'll be that much closer to being done. On the other hand, with my new position at work I would have to finish work at 3pm and take classes from 4-6pm mon-thurs. After eating and showering, when do I study?
2. If I DO take two classes, the one's I want to take will both be challenging for me. I want to take Children's literature (which I heard is a B*tch) and that involves lots of reading and writing papers. I also want to take Writing Fiction....which I would imagine involves a lot of writing. I want to do well in my classes, but I don't think the schedule problems mentioned in #1 would allow for this.
3. If I decide to take ONE class. Which one? I've been wanting to take Children's Lit for several years now and I know I'll enjoy it. But I've always enjoyed writing, and would really enjoy the fiction class. It scares me a little. I'm afraid I won't be any good at it. But this semester the same teacher that I had for Intro to Fiction will be teaching it and I Loved him!

So there you have it folks. My dilemma. Could you help a sister out? What would you do?
